Gerard, our very dear friend. You were always supportive, loyal and such fun to be with (except when England were losing the rugby). You will never be replaced. The One and Only xx

You will be missed by all of us. Will miss the beers and the numerous chats over the fence. Over the years many many subjects but never far from top of the agenda the plights of Norwich City and Arsenal!! Most of all the support and kindness when we were having difficult times.

Julia joins me in offering our condolences to all of the family. The tributes paid to Gerry really painted a picture of why he will be greatly missed. If his organ playing can't blow the Pearly Gates off their hinges nothing can. May he Rest in Peace.

The thoughts of all the Marchants are with Tina and all the family. I was so privileged to have shared a few pints and curries with Gerry and I felt blessed to have experienced the warmth of his friendship even though it was far too fleeting. Book me in for a curry if I am blessed to join you on the other side. xx.

Many memories of a very special man. Gerry, whenever you were playing the organ at Our Lady's, you lit up the church with your welcoming smile and fabulous renditions on the organ. We remember fondly how you would gently accompany Roisin, as she'd beautifully sing the psalm. You were obviously so proud to be doing this together. We were so grateful when you came to Beccles to play the organ at our daughter Felicity's wedding in 2016. You jokingly admitted to us afterwards, that you'd forgotten to bring the music to one of her chosen hymns, so in your words, you just 'winged it!' Such a talent! We had no idea at the time and would never have known if you hadn't told us. We miss seeing your smile at church and pray for dear Tina and your lovely family. May God bless them.

My wonderful Uncle Gerard. So many happy memories at all stages of my life. Ball on stairs and monster chefs are the earliest. I was so happy when you all moved to Hull and we had great fun playing tennis and squash (which you always won) and watching you play rugby at Marist. You Tina Ursula Roisin and Michael have always been so kind and welcoming to me, Katie and the children and we have loved and remember with great fondness all our visits to Norwich over the years. May you rest in peace Uncle Gerard. X

I will miss my amazing cousin more than words can say. You have always been a part of my life and we shared so many happy memories throughout our lives. Our families were inseparable, enjoying love, laughter and so many good times. I will always have my memories but you have been taken far too soon. You leave an unbelievably massive hole in our family, our Ger! With that laugh and a personality that made everybody smile and want to be with you. From walks over Hampstead Heath, summers spent in Bournemouth sitting on a windswept beach, eating sand sandwiches to Christmases spent at 130 Hillfield. So many happy times, so much love and laughter. I will miss you Ger, more than words can say, but sleep peacefully as you are now reunited with The Batty, the Smith and the Cavanagh family. Love and prayers for Tina, Ursula, Roisin and Michael as they come to terms with such a colossal loss. Forever in all our hearts 'Our Ger'
