Rest in peace Roddy, my godfather and entertaining Uncle full of energy and enthusiasm. Thanks for making many entertaining childhood Christmases with my beloved cousins,. Best memory must be Santa's footprints coming through the snow on the back roof and through the bathroom window. Onwards and upwards.

Dear Roddy, How much happiness you gave us all particularly when your children and our children were very young. It was always great to see you when you arrived from far flung parts of the world and also to know your wonderful, clever mother, Meg, who brought you up under very difficult circumstances when your father died. We will remember you with happiness fffor the lots of good laughs and family fun you made for us! With much love Deirdre and all the Hannas.

Roddy was someone you were never likey to forget, he had true character, presence and integrity. My memories of growing up on Landford road, mooching around with Rose, also include Roddy. "Oh girls, what have you been doing?!", was something I frequently heard from him- both amused and exasperated in equal measures. Then again we were probably up to no good! Roddy was a kind, funny and gentle man. I send all my love to his family and those who knew him. He will never be forgotten and will be missed by all.

I will remember Roddy as someone who was always cheerful and enthusiastic making him great fun to be with.He was ideal to meet up with and have lengthy discussions about a whole range of topics, particularly sport about which he seemed to have an endless supply of information, statistics and amusing anecdotes. He was a great character and he will be greatly missed

I write on behalf of the '64 Club, the group who left Daniel Stewart's College in 1964 ( along with classmates who left in earlier years), We have met every year since we left school, ( The 2020 reunion was via Zoom with over 20 of us on the call. ) Roddy attended quite a few of our dinners in person and sent apologies when other commitments prevented him from joining us. We were all aware of his athletic prowess and were very interested to learn how his business career evolved over the years. At this sad time we remember Roddy and all he contributed to our lives at Daniel Stewart's over 13 years.

Roddy and I were best friends at school through our love of athletics, at which he excelled by his ability, ambition and determination. These traits prepared him for his future varied, colourful and successful careers. But his cheerful outlook and gregarious nature set him apart. He leaves numerous fun memories which will last well into the future among his many friends. It was always great to see him on his journeys north to see his mum and relatives and it was lovely to share his hospitality and meet his families when I came south on sporting, cultural or leisure trips, or simply to meet up with an old friend.

There are radiators in this world and there are drains, and Roddy was a radiator, turned up to the max. We never knew him not positive, optimistic, enthusiastic, cheerful, generous, unwaveringly kind. He made everyone round him feel happier, and he will be sorely missed. Our love to all his family.

Roddy was a very lovely person, whom I was lucky enough to know from my school days. He was an exceptionally good son to his dear mother. My daughter and I were so happy to attend Philippa and Roddy's beautiful wedding. Ed and I thoroughly enjoyed occasional lunches with him when he popped up to Edinburgh. Roddy's warmth and friendliness came through strongly when I was able to speak to him just a few weeks ago. I treasure that I had that opportunity and am so grateful to Philippa for prompting me to call and for the carer to helped us connect. He will be sadly missed.

Roddy was a kind, generous man with a twinkle in his eye and in his heart. And he wasn't afraid to stand up, and speak up, for kindness and generosity and for what he believed. We are thinking of all those who were lucky enough to be close to him.
