Russell went out of his way to be my friend the first day we met - which is quintessentially the sort of thing Russell did. He was always friendly, always helpful, always interested, always supportive, always smiling. A good man. Very much missed.

It is often said that Freemasonry cannot make a bad man good, but can make a good man better. When I met Russell he was already a very senior Mason, so I can't judge how much Freemasonry may have improved him, but I do believe that he was one of the best men I have ever known. A good listener, who gave considered advice, and not a single grain of malice in his body. It was an honour to know him and to be able to count him as a friend.

Russell, my uncle, taught me more than I ever appreciated. I often hear his voice in my own today. At times he was a stoic example of a patriarch, and at other times he offerd sage advice in few words. Such a serious person, but with an equally deep and, at times, mischievous sense of humour. I miss him dearly. I often remember Uncle being able to cut straight to the fundamental principle of a matter, entirely derailing all the many what/ifs and buts I had in store for him. That said, I will always remember him as someone that took time to listen, and also hear, what was being said. With love and prayers from the whole family. Nephew Edward

Russell and I go back a very long way. It is thanks to him that I joined KT. Latterly if he was attending the same meeting as I was anywhere in Middlesex, I was his chauffeur. We spent many happy hours discussing everything from Mediaeval church music to the current Anglican Rite.

Russell was a real gentleman and a very true mason. He was like a father figure to me, always ready to help and give advice. He managed to find time to be at every meeting when I was joining a new order apart from one his excuse being he had to attend his daughters graduation !! I feel honoured to have known Russell and will miss him greatly RIP
