Formerly of Glasgow, passed away peacefully on the 24th March 2018 aged 81 years. Funeral service at West Wiltshire Crematorium, Semington on Thursday 19th April at 1.45pm. Receiving a diagnosis of cancer is a distressing time. Whilst in theory interpreters should be provided for Deaf people to discuss their illness, in reality funding and training is often lacking. Furthermore as patients reach the end of their lives, when palliative care becomes vitally important, significant support is needed to enable understanding and individual planning. There is a desperate need for improved communication in end-of-life care for members of the Deaf community and their families. The Richard Magill Fund strives to help in two ways:To raise awareness about the lack of support for Deaf people requiring end-of-life care; and to be constructive and proactive in raising the necessary funds.
