Ashgate Hospicecare is an independent charity (no. 700636) that provides care to patients with a life-limiting illness and their families across North Derbyshire. We make thousands of visits to patients every year in their own homes through our Hospice at Home Team, Palliative Care Specialist Nurse Team, Lymphoedema Team, and Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Teams and Supportive Care teams. We have a Day Hospice for up to 16 patients per day, four days a week, a 21 bed Inpatient Unit providing 24/7 care, and a range of therapy and support services on site. All of our services are provided free of charge to patients and their families. We are mostly funded through donations, gifts in Wills, and income raised by our 15 shops and three coffee shops.

I met Linda through church; Jim, was one of the catechists when I became Catholic. Jim's pride, love, & affection when talking about Linda & their family was beautiful, We spent some time together at Walsingham in 2025, & it was such a pleasure to be in Linda's company. Sometimes you meet someone whose warmth & kindness has a profound effect on you, regardless of how long or short their presence in your life may be. Linda was one of those people for me.Seeing how many people attended Linda's Requiem Mass today was a true testament to that unique warmth she possessed, & to the many lives she enriched just by being herself.I knew that Linda had been a midwife, but I didn't know that she had worked at Scarsdale in the year I was born-there's a good possibility she may have even delivered me!I will keep Linda, Jim, & their wonderful family in my prayers, asking God to bring them comfort and peace during this difficult time.Rest in eternal peace, Linda. I am so very glad I got to meet you.
