Marion Watson
Passed away on 23 May 2025, aged 85 years.
Marion Jean Watson (née Linton) born on August 12th, 1939 in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada passed away peacefully on May 23rd, 2025 at St Luke’s Hospice, Sheffield. She suffered a serious stroke whilst asleep at her home on April 28th. Loving wife of Dr Alan James Watson, who pre-deceased Marion, Mother of Jonathan and Thomas, Mother-in-law of Esther and Michelle, and Grandmother of Martha, Elizabeth, Amy, Isabel and Alasdair.
Marion was raised in Wolfville and earned a Degree in Biology from Acadia University in 1960. She travelled and worked in London, Birmingham and Sheffield, England; Montreal, Halifax and Toronto, Canada. She married Dr Alan James Watson in September 1965 and enjoyed 51 years of marriage almost entirely in Sheffield. She worked in various educational and laboratory roles throughout her life, primarily teaching children from difficult backgrounds. Marion was a devoted mother and grandmother, known for her kindness and optimism. She enjoyed teaching and cherished close friendships. She was an amazing caregiver to Alan as he developed dementia in later life. Her memories include wonderful trips to Orkney, Cape Wrath, Tuscany and many times to Nova Scotia, enjoying family get-togethers, friends, the lakes, woods and boating.
Marion was a wonderful grandmother, mother, wife and friend: caring, curious, empathetic, resilient, positive, optimistic, hardworking, courageous, strong to the end and giving of so much love and compassion. She taught us so many things, including how to really appreciate the important things in life; family, friendship, nature, healthy lifestyle, value of routine, curiosity, love, kindness and respect for others.
We are forever grateful to have had her presence in our lives, and the world is a better place for having had Marion in it.
Please leave donations here in memory of Marion (John Heath & Sons make no charge for this service nor do they receive any commission)
