I cannot see a more fitting way to allow Grandad's legacy to continue through the University of Sheffield. He will be, and already is, greatly missed.

Peter was one of my earliest influences as a psychologist. His loss will be sorely felt by our profession.

Peter was such an inspiration. He supervised me when I embarked on a belated PhD while in full time work . He was so supportive, encouraging and sympathetic . I later benefitted from his teaching on the MSc course . His leadership of the IWP was such an achievement and asset for Sheffield. I feel privileged to have worked with him .

Peter was a fine leader, hugely principled and conscientious, generous and positive in supporting colleagues. He enabled the development of many distinguished careers in applied psychology, including a team of clinical psychologists he gave me the opportunity to form that flourished within SAPU under his facilitative directorship. For his vision and support in making that possible I am forever grateful.

I have loved every minute of my 20+ years (so far) career in Occupational Psychology, which started at IWP in 2003. Peter Warr was a legend in our field. I'm delighted to contribute towards a scholarship in his name to maintain the future of our profession.

I feel privileged to have known Peter. He has been a constant presence throughout my academic career. He taught me on the MSc and although I never worked directly with him, his research has had a great influence on my own. Peter was kind and generous with his time, and contributed to IWP well into his retirement. A remarkable man. He will be greatly missed.

Peter was to me a long-time friend and colleague of some 63 years, from 1966 when we met at Princeton University. In 1967 he invited me to Sheffield to join a research project and met my arrival at Southampton with a brass band! It happened to be the last transatlantic crossing of the Queen Mary, with much attendant hoopla. I cherish my two years at Sheffield, working with Peter and spending time with his family and subsequently visiting back and forth with them across the pond from time to time between Sheffield and my home in Virginia.
Peter was a true gentleman and scholar, kind and thoughtful of manner, generous in sharing his wisdom and knowledge, unfailingly pleasant and cheerful. I now say a fond farewell and great appreciation for his steadfast friendship.

I am so sorry that we've lost Peter and so happy to have known him. He was always kind and thoughtful. He had a brilliant mind but was always gentle and tentative in making suggestions. I shared an office with him for several years and was always very careful to say when I'd be in 'the office' as I wanted him to feel it was a shared space. However, unfailingly he always said 'your office' to me because he didn't want me to feel obliged. He made great efforts to remember details and come back to enquire how things had gone. Above anything he achieved he was just an incredibly kind man.

I cited Peter many times in my PhD. I did my occupational psychology MSc and doctoral studies with his textbook by my side. I met him several times over the years at the IPW conference. His capacity for mentorship, his passion for research and his integrity left a lasting impression. He was utterly unique and will leave a deep and profound influence on our profession as his legacy. My thoughts are with his family and his colleagues.

Peter embodied IWP as an institution and it is not possible to even talk about IWP without thinking of Peter. He will live on through our work forever. The scholarship is a fantastic idea - imagine, as a recipient of the scholarship, being able to have your name in the same sentence as Peter's! What a legacy he has left for so many aspiring occupational psychologists.

Peter had generously agreed to do a video interview with me as part of the 'Pioneers in Occupational Psychology' series I was producing. He was such an influential force in the field, not only in the UK but worldwide. He leaves a fantastic legacy. My thoughts are with his loved ones. May they be comforted by the knowledge that Peter was greatly cherished by many.

Feeling very fortunate to have had the chance to meet and work with Peter, and at the very start of my career too. Very fond memories of IWP, which would not have existed if it wasn't for Peter. What incredible achievements and so much for the discipline of occupational psychology to be grateful for. A fantastic legacy. Thank you.

Peter was one of those rare people who have both wisdom to impart and the generosity to do so. I will always remember the nuggets of advice he gave me while we were both collecting our teas from the staff room (and I always knew when I'd be able to see him - he was like clockwork with a cup of tea!). He taught me about dignity in academia and they are lessons that - even if not fulfilled - still influence me. Thank you Peter.

I have many fond memories of Peter from my IWP days. He was the only other person wearing a tie when I started! He'd always have time to stop and chat when I saw him in the library or the photocopy room, sketching out a 3 x 2 design or telling me about famous studies. His guidance and support meant a great deal to me as a junior researcher. He was a wonderful person, a gentleman, and a scholar. His contribution to IWP and the field in general has been immense, and he will be hugely missed all around the world.
